When Style at Home magazine asked me if I’d be interested in their annual Christmas Tree Challenge feature I almost bit their hand off! Anyone that knows me will know just how excited I get about Christmas decor and the festive season – so this feature had my name written all over it 🙂
Before the shoot the only clue I was given as to my retailer was to think winter wonderland – sparkle, whites, silvers, greys and muted golds.
Once I got there I was instantly put at ease by the lovely team and finally found out who my retailer was! I was thrilled to be styling for Tesco 🙂
The shoot took place in a location house which I found fascinating! It was a family home that was rented out for the day, they let the SAH team move everything about, wallpaper sections of their rooms and put things on the walls – I think I’d be terrified letting people in to do that in my home haha!
I loved this bead chain from Tesco – will definitely be adding some of these this year!
The Tesco baubles had a wintery theme with penguins, snowflakes and snowy coverings – just magical! They also had iridescent baubles and glittery acorns which seem to be popular this Christmas!
This blanket from Tesco is also stunning, one side is grey and the other side is a fluffy white colour – can’t wait for it to hit stores!
This glittery reindeer with decorative collar was also a fab piece that stood out from the Tesco range! It looks like a mini version of the large one I bought from Homebase last year, can’t resist a sparkly reindeer!
Talking of reindeers, this candle holder version is also from Tesco and would make a great statement piece! Lots of tweaking and faffing later it was time to go and get glammed up ready for the photo.
I had the privilege of being dolled up by the fabulous Alice from Wonderland Hair and Makeup – honestly felt like a minor celeb having my hair and make-up done and posing for the photos that day!
Make-up and hair finished, sparkly dress on and time to put on a pair of sparkly heels (between you and me I can’t actually walk in heels to save my life, so in reality only managed to keep them on for the photos and kicked them off in delight immediately after!).
I can’t show you the finished set up but here’s another sneak peak at the gorgeous wintry Tesco range!
Once it was a wrap on the photo, I quickly changed back in to comfy clothes and got to observe another reader – Finnterior Designer – styling another tree for Matalan! I’m obsessed with Christmas decorations so getting to preview two new ranges months before Christmas was like my kind of heaven!!
More acorns (Link) popping up in the Matalan range too, so expecting them to be popular this year.
These pumpkin shaped baubles (Link) were so big and so pretty!
Unicorns have been huge this year in general but it seems they will be incorporated in to Christmas decor too! Unicorn ornament – Link.
Lastly, this sparkly nutcracker (Link) stole the show – complete with fluffy boots and light up tree!
So after a day packed full of Christmas decorations, throws, cushions and Christmas songs (at one point we had the chipmunks Christmas songs on – now that was interesting haha!) it was time to call it a day!
I drove all the way home daydreaming about baubles and what I wanted to add to my collection this year – bring on Christmas I say!
A little round up of what looks set to be popular this Christmas:
- Iridescent baubles
- Rose gold/copper
- Large baubles
- White frosted decor
- Fluffy throws
This will be featured in the December issue which hits shelves in November – make sure you grab a copy!
Lots of love
